South Shields & The Gym
So I made it into South Shields

And this is the Leisure Building down in South Shields on the sea front. The building is known as Haven Point and consists of 2 pools – one leisure with slides and stuff, and then a serious swimming pool. It’s different pool though , as unlike traditional british pools, it is depth by width rather than length and indeed its movable flooring so they can alter the depth.
It’s nice play to swim in all fairness, apart from the showers. They have stupid hands free wave your hand across a sensor to start the water. Sounds good? But I am dead the sensor, so if i get any water, its one lot and that;s it. No amount of encouraging it makes more water come out. A simple push button would be nice. It feels like technology for technology sake.
For this trip, I parked in the main sea side car park as the little car park nearer the pool was full (and often is) and people like to chance parking in the coach bays or EV days and are often ticketed. But there are rules….

The actual work to the leisure centre is in fact very nice. You access it via the Little Haven beach as seen here on the right. The entry to the river is protected by the South Shields habour so its often sheltered.
There were a few hardly souls out on the beach which is always great to see. On the right, not shown, there is the Ocean Beach Pleasure park or a fun fair to most people.Always a popular choice in the summer.
Looking back at the photos, today was infact a nice day, and good to be out. As much as I’ve talked about the pool I wasn’t there for a swim, it was a gym day, and its been a long time since I last went. A little walk on the treadmil to get warm, then moving on to the ski erg for a 30 on 20 off x 8 to get the heart moving and the sweat.
A quick post gym shower, in perhaps the worst showers ever, but it was done.
A trip to the shops were up next, but first some art for your consideration.
